Ding Liren was about to become the first player to reach the semifinals of the Airthings Masters, as he had a 1-point lead and a winning position in game 3 of his match against Vladislav Artemiev. However, the Chinese wasted his chances and lost both that game and the next one to get knocked out of the competition.
