British Championship: Six co-leaders, as Conquest beats Royal

Round eight of the 2025 British Chess Championship in Liverpool produced a six-way tie for the lead ahead of Sunday’s early-start finale (the last round starts at 11.00 CEST, 4½ hours earlier than usual). Michael Adams drew with defending champion Gawain Jones, while Stuart Conquest defeated Shreyas Royal after the youngster faltered decisively early in the middlegame.
